During the recent launch of SS Rajamouli’s adventure drama Varanasi, the actress spoke about her return to Indian cinema, and her experience in Tollywood. Varanasi is Priyanka Chopra’s only second non-Hindi venture after her debut film Thamizhan, which released in 2002, and starred Vijay in the lead role.  

Priyanka Chopra talked about how she found it a bit awkward to adjust to speaking Telugu in front of audience. She also credited SS Rajamouli and the entire crew for making her comfortable. Varanasi also marks Priyanka Chopra’s return to Indian audience after six long years, following her marriage to Hollywood artist Nick Jonas.

Varanasi marks SS Rajamouli’s return after three years, when he last directed the globetrotting hit RRR, which earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song, becoming the first indigenous Indian film to earn the honor.
