The opening weekend collections of Khaleja has been nothing less than phenomenal. According to the recent reports, the movie has earned nearly 20 crores worldwide in the opening weekend of the re – release.

With that, Khaleja is now the highest grossing re-released movie in the Telugu industry, beating the previous record held by Salaar : Part 1 [Ceasefire].

But what is the connection with Harshvardhan Rane and Mahesh Babu? Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja and Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam were commercial flops when it released at the box office in 2010 and 2016 respectively. However, over the years, it developed an audience of its own, and broke records on the re-release.

Sanam Teri Kasam earned nearly 50 crores worldwide on the re-release, beating Ghilli to become the highest grossing Indian movie in terms of re-release. The movie also withstood the might of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava to become a cult classic in terms of re-release.
