It is about Chandu Chekavar, a Kalaripayattu warrior. The great warrior meets a tragic end due to a betrayal. Kunal Kapoor, who doesn’t even know Malayalam, attended some workshops for developing his knowledge in Malayalam. He also learnt Kalaripayattu for the film. After the film had been screened at the film fest, Jayaraj said, “I am happy and proud for this opportunity to present the first screening of my latest movie Veeram. It is an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth especially in this quadric centennial of the great writer. BRICS has honoured our work by choosing Veeram to be world premiered as their opening film."
