RangiTaranga Gained The Same Success As Baahubali

's Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari was the highest grossing movie in Karnataka after beating the record of the 2006 film, Mungaru Male, this year, RangiTaranga, a film comprises of mostly newcomers, became the very first Kannada film to achieve the list weekend box-office list of the respected New York Times.

RangiTaranga started in the 27^th position, earning a total of $185,000 in the weekend of August 14 – August 16. Prior to that, it also had some premiere shows earning an overall of $215,800. The Rs 1.3 gross for 3-days, beats the records for the whole run collections for a Kannada film in the market of US and Canada. According to some trade sources, a US distributor has acquired the film for a record price.

The film that’s been made out of a shoestring budget of Rs 1.5 crore has run to filled houses in 30 screens around the country. RangiTaranga’s record collection is just a proof that the film was the first in Kannada to have an extensive release. Also, it helps that the film became a big hit in Karnataka and when social media pages began discussing about a film positively, the demand for the film is becoming huge. So because the film was initially released in India, there was a huge demand when it was released in North America. The shows went sold out few days after the film was announced.

RangiTaranga will also be releasing in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Tokyo.
