Prior to this, he also donned all kinds of films but doing biopic films fascinates him since they happened in real life. He also finds it inspiring and identifiable. Ketan also said that as a director, it challenged him to do a research and revisit those times and he feels that the reality is better than fiction.

Ketan did a massive research and penning the script for two years. He started working on it after Manjhi died in 2007. He found his stories in newspapers and magazines and he got inspired to the man who incised a road for 22-years from a mountain for his dearest wife.

Manjhi – The Mountain Man was shot in a very remote place where Manjhi originally stayed. It is one of the poorest places in India. Yet, the brilliant director continued the shoot because he finds the location really amazing. They also have to face the court after receiving legal notices when they were starting the film. There are four filmmakers who are doing the same film at that time but luckily, they got the verdict and completed the film.
