The speculations regarding the female lead for Kabir Khan’s next film were doing the rounds, and the Piku star Deepika Padukone was almost finalised. In spite of all that, the director Kabir Khan refused to make any official announcement about the same till the “almost” changed to “final”. Now, since the talks are over, the director finally decided to open-up and announce the leading lady of the Salman Khan starrer Tubelight- surprisingly, the heroine would be Katrina Kaif. Katrina has always been one of the director’s favourite and has worked in films like New York, Ek Tha Tiger and Phantom. Apparently Kabir had approached Deepika for the role and she had asked him to increase her portions in the film, which was not possible because the director never makes changes to his. script on the actor’s demand. Hence, he refused and went back to Katrina. Not only has Katrina replaced Deepika, but this also means that the Kabir-Salman-Katrina trio will be seen for the second time after the superhit Ek Tha Tiger. Apart from Tubelight, Katrina will also be working for Anand L Rai’s untitled project opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
