A recent report from the South Korean news outlet claims that the Meta Quest Pro 2 is currently in the development stage and will become a collaboration project between Meta and LG. With the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro, the hype about the exclusive mixed-reality technology has been exhilarating.
Meta Quest Pro 2 is more powerful and expensive than its predecessor. It will be Apple Vision Pro’s competitor and other mixed-reality headsets that are currently in progress. Meta’s 2nd generation headset will employ a User Interface (UI) with LG’s webOS instead of Quest UI.
Reports also state that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg plans to meet LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan on Wednesday to talk about the details of their partnership, including the release of the ‘highest-performing XR headset’ in the first quarter of 2025, surpassing the Vision Pro headset from Apple.
News about the alleged alliance of Meta and LG first surfaced in September last year. The report says this device would be priced at Rs. 1.65 lakh. According to Korea Economic Daily, LG’s custom OS for its smart TV would be integrated into this headset. This is not the first time Meta will be partnered with other electronics companies for its VR tech. Samsung handled the hardware for Oculus Rift S, Oculus Go, and Gear VR, all manufactured by Lenovo.
