A change to Wear OS 4 will result in a noticeable increase in the battery life of smartwatches running Google’s operating system. The notifications will be processed by sending them to a different system, which eventually leads to improved battery performance. OnePlus Watch 2 was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 last Monday, and it will be the first smartwatch with enhanced functionality that could come on future devices.
The notifications on Wear OS have been processed using the Application Processor (AP), which operates tasks that need more computational processing; because of this, displaying the notifications results in more power usage. Alternatively, the functions that require less power, such as heart rate monitoring and step counting, are managed by a different Microcontroller Unit (MCU). According to reports, the Wear OS 4 will let manufacturers transfer the notification system to MCU, reducing battery consumption when the notifications are flashed.
The OnePlus Watch 2 was announced Monday at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The latest wearable has a Snapdragon W5 chipset and a BES2700 chip and has a 1.43-inch round AMOLED display. It comes with a 500mAh battery life with 7.5 charging support. The OnePlus Watch 2 will go on sale starting March 4 and can be purchased at Amazon, One Plus online store, Flipkart, Reliance Digital Croma, and some online stores.
