WhatsApp just launched a significant update to its app’s user interface and it’s available for all Android smartphones. The four navigation tabs that were previously placed on top of the screen are now moved to the bottom. The update was enabled on the WhatsApp beta version for the past few months, and it is now being enabled for all users. It will be easier to switch between tabs using one hand.
The old interface had four tabs, including communities, chats, status, and calls, placed above the chat lists. After the update, users will find these tabs at the bottom together with the icons. This is one of the most remarkable updates of WhatsApp for Android in a long time. It puts the app’s primary navigation tabs at your thumb’s reach, which is particularly useful when you can only use one hand when navigating the app. Nonetheless, if you need to search for something, you still need to reach the top of the screen.
WhatsApp is working on adding more features that may eventually be available in the app. According to reports, the messaging service is working on enabling users to send and receive money internationally through the app using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) of the NCPI in India.
