1. Zee Horror Show

This TV series on Zee Television by Ramsay Brothers was aired between in the period 1993-1997, which became very popular for its short horror and suspense stories shown within 4 to 5 episodes. Some of the episodes like ‘Raat', "Dastak’ are remembered even today for its intense performances. One of the episodes called "Chehre pe Chehra" became so popular with the audience that, Zee café telecasted it quite a few number of times. The show touched social issues like dowry system in form of episodes like ‘Jeevan Mrityu’ which gained huge popularity. Some of the episodes were also inspired (or remade) from Hollywood films like Child's Play, Evil Dead, Fright Night etc.

2. Aahat

Aahat (English translation: An approaching sound) was an Indian horror/thriller series directed by B. P. Singh for Sony Entertainment Television India. The series had over 550 episodes aired over 6 seasons from 1995 to 2015. All the season were based on horror, thriller elements, witches, wizards, zombies, undead, ghosts, spirits, paranormal/supernatural activities.

3. Woh

Woh was an Indian television horror-thriller series on Zee TV, aired in 1998 and had 52 episodes. The series starred Indian movie director Ashutosh Gowarikar in a crucial role. This TV serial is loosely copied from ‘IT', a novel by Stephen King and English TV Series ‘IT’. The serial had Shreyas Talpade, as a child artist. The show is about an evil spirit called ‘Woh’ who creates menace in the city of Panchgani by abducting children and killing them. Seven teenagers battle it out with Woh and save the city.

4. Fear Files

Fear Files...Darr Ki Sacchi Tasvirein is a Zee TV supernatural television series between 30 June 2012 to 17 August 2014 and had two seasons. It was aired every Saturday and Sunday evening. The series is about incidents and events which are paranormal or supernatural and also the investigations of such events.

5. Ssshhhh...Koi Hai

Ssshhhh...Koi Hai (English translation: Ssshhhh...someone's there) is an Indian horror TV serial jointly produced by Contiloe Entertainment and Cinevistaas Limited and for Sony Television. The series premiered on 27 July 2001 and ran for 3seasons ending on 16 May 2010, consisting of 393 episodes. The series was based on fictional supernatural and horror stories and included paranormal events, zombies, evil spirits, ghosts, black magic, monsters, etc.

6. Mano Ya Na Mano

Maano Ya Na Maano (English translation: Believe or don’t believe) is a 1995 horror/thriller television drama series on Zee TV based on real life paranormal and mystic incidents. The serial was directed by famous Indian horror/thriller director, Rajesh Ranashinge. Each story had a different set of star cast and location.

7. Darr Sabko Lagta Hai

Darr Sabko Lagta Hai (English translation: Everybody feels fear) was an Indian horror fiction television series hosted by film actress Bipasha Basu, which started on 31 October 2015 on &TV, every Saturday and Sunday nights. The series after airing two successful seasons ended on 17th April 2016. The series is based on supernatural/paranormal fiction, zombies, ghosts, undead, evil spirits, phantoms, possessed entities, witches and black magicians etc.

8. Achanak 37 Saal Baad

It was a psychological thriller aired on Sony TV between 2002-03. It is about a small town called Gahota, where there is paranormal activities and bloodshed every 37 years in which people become hysteric and kill themselves/others. The serial had 197 episodes.The serial got the Indian Telly award for Best horror program of the year in 2003.

9. X-Zone

X zone was a horror/thriller serial on ZeeTV. The episodes were realistic and had popular actors from Bollywood like Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon, Ashutosh Rana etc. Some of its famous episodes were Kasshish, Vashikaran etc. Each story of the series was based on a paranormal/supernatural spine situation and events. The show was not able to garner much popularity because of its complex stories but the series had fabulous performances from great actors. The serial has stories on different genres and had perhaps the best special effects of those times.

10. Saturday Suspense

Saturday Suspense is a suspense thriller series on Indian television, aired on Zee TV between 1998-2000 and had 134 episodes. The series was shown on TV every Saturday at 9:30 pm. Some of the top-notch people from the film industry who have directed and produced Saturday Suspense stories include Ashutosh Gowariker, Vikram Bhatt, Vivek Agnihotri, Anurag Basu, Deepak Tijori, Raj Tilak etc. Each episode was like a mini film with a different story and star cast.
