15 Television Celebs Whose Bollywood Career Was A Flop

Bollywood has always tried to welcome actors with open hand. And when a celebrity is popular on small screen, he is expected to rock in Bollywood. But…Not all make it in Bollywood. Those who don’t are awarded the title of “FLOP” by the audience. So here Nettv4u brings you the list of 20 television celebs who could not make it in Bollywood even after having a good career in television shows, in simple words those who have been declared FLOP.

1. Rajeev Khandelwal

The chocolaty boy ‘Rajeev Khandelwal’ started his career with the show Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat. But the actor got real popularity and stole many hearts in his next show Kahin to Hoga. Sab TV’s popular show Left Right Left brought him enough confidence to take his chance in Bollywood. Bollywood welcomed Rajeev with Ronnie Screwwala’s Aamir in which his acting was appreciated but overall the movie tanked. Later his movie Samraat & Company also received many negative reviews.

2. Hansika Motwani

The cute, bubbly girl from every child’s favorite show (even mine) Shaka Laka Boom Boom, received Best Child Actor Award. She also appeared as one of Hrithik Roshan’s friends in the movie Koi Mil Gaya. Her Bollywood career saw a big failure after her film Aap Ka Suroor. Thus she could never take a great flight in Bollywood. The actress now appears in Tamil and Telugu films. Hansika’s ‘Tum Husnpari Tum Jaane Jahan, Tum Sabse Haseen’ could not help her gain fame in the Hindi film Industry.

3. Jay Bhanushali

Bhanushali debuted on television in the show Dhoom Machao Dhoom, but the actor gained popularity by his role in Ekta Kapoor’s Kayamat. He also won several awards for his performance in the show. The movie Hate Story 2 marked the debut of Jay Bhanushali with actress Suvreen Chawla. But the movie could not appeal to the audience and failed to entertain them up to their mark. Bhanushali has hosted several reality shows and won Nach Baliye 5 but unfortunately his Bollywood graph could not go that up.

4. Aamna Sharif

The actress started receiving modeling offers in the second year of college. Aamna made her acting debut in the show Kahin To Hoga opposite Rajeev Khandelwal. She was highly appreciated for this show. She made her debut in the Bollywood industry in 2009 in the movie Alloo Chaat. The movie could not get positive reviews and didn’t do well at Box office. She was recently seen in the film Ek Villain in a side role. The actress gave two Bollywood movies in the same year in a lead role but none did well and could not grab fame for her. And Aamna was declared a flop.

5. Karan Singh Grover

The Pisces actor is quite known for his work in Kasauti Zindagi ki, Dill Mill Gayye, and Qubool Hai. He began his career with Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi.He had been reported an Instant Hit by the Times of India. The actor went ahead to try his luck in Bollywood through his first movie Bhram which was released in the year 2008. Karan was seen in a supporting role in Bhram. In 2015, he came up as the lead in the horror movie Alone opposite Bipasha Basu. Except for the personal good, Alone was a failure professionally for him. The film was expected to turn out much better. The actor was last seen in Hate Story 3 which received mixed reviews. Karan didn’t achieve much fame in Bollywood as compared to his achievements on television.

6. Manish Paul

Manish Paul, the people’s host, has anchored many reality shows till date and has been a part of many award functions too. The actor started off as a VJ, Video Jockey. He has won the Best Anchor award for the show Dance India Dance L’il Masters. Paul has done small roles in movies like Tees Maar Khan. His first film in a lead role was a thriller comedy named Mickey Virus which was released in 2013. The film was a complete Box Office failure. He was recently seen in Tere Bin Laden 2.His failure in Bollywood made him return to Television.

7. Shruti Seth

She is an actress whose career began by chance when she was suddenly asked if she wished to be a model. Shruti made her Television debut with Maan in the role of Khushi. After Maan, she was seen in the role of a girl named Jia who hadmagical powers in the television show Shararat(one of my favorites too).The show became an instant hit, and Shruti was loved by all for her cute part. The actress has starred in few films. She received appreciations for her acting in the movie Fanaa as Fatima. Unfortunately, she has never been in the lead role for any Bollywood movie. Her career could never see great heights in Bollywood.

8. Gurmeet Choudhary

This actor rose to fame through his role of Lord Ram in Ramayana. After this, his career gained new heights for his roles in shows like Geet –Hui Sabse Parayi and Punar Vivah. Gurmeet also participated and won the popular dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’. He has also been a part of action show Fear Factor. But he could not taste the same success in Bollywood after his role in Khamoshiyan. The film was marked as below average on box office.

9. Aman Yatan Verma

The television anchor and actor made his acting debut in the serial Pachpan Khambe Laal Dewar in the year 1987.He became popular after his role as Anupam Kapadia in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Aman started his Bollywood career in a supporting role in the movie Koi Hai which came as a huge flop. He has done the lead role in only two Bollywood movies and both struck box office quite badly and the actor became a flop in his Bollywood career.

10. Karan Kundra

The actor is best known for his role of Arjun in Ekta Kapoor’s serial Kitni Mohabbat Hai. He gained great popularity through the show and was loved by all. He is also known for his hosting in the three seasons of Channel V’s show Gumrah End of Innocence. Kundra made his Bollywood debut in the film Pure Punjabi in the year 2011.He was also a part of some other Bollywood films like Horror Story, Jatt Romantic but his acting was not appreciated by the audience.

11. Anita Hassanandani

The Indian actress, model and once the face of Everyuth, Sunsilk and Boroplus started her acting in Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli. She became an instant hit on television through the series Kavyanjali. Anita made her Bollywood debut in the film Kuch To Hai. She has appeared in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil films as well. The actress could not achieve much fame in Bollywood and returned to Television. She is currently playing Shagun in Ye Hai Mohabbatein and is much appreciated for her part.

12. Prachi Desai

The beautiful actress was quite appreciated for her role as Bani in Kasam se, but Prachi chose Bollywood over serials and soon left her television career for films. Her first film was Rock On which was released in 2008 where she played the part of Farhan Akhtar’s wife. Her known Bollywood roles include Bol Bachchan, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, and Azhar. In spite of some good performances, Prachi could not achieve popularity but it is still too early to say anything.

13. Eijaz Khan

Eijaz was first seen as Varun Raheja in the Star Plus show Kahin to Hoga. The actor was well received in this role and was appreciated by the audience. His debut film was Thakshak which came in 1999.He chose Bollywood, his film Meerabhai Not Out was released in 2008 but sadly, it was aflop, and he had to return to television shortly. He was a part of some other films but grabbed attention of the audience only in the movie Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu returns where he played a supporting role of Sardar. Overall the actor could not get fame in the Bollywood Industry.

14. Amar Upadhyay

The appearance of his photos in Stardust magazine, got Amar a role in the Doordarshan show Dekh Bhai Dekh. But he earned his real identity after his part as Mihir in the popular daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhai Kabhi Bahu Thi. His grand success as a television actor made him debut in Bollywood film Dhund: The Fog followed by Jodi Kya Banai Waah Waah Ramji and LOC Kargil. None of his films could achieve success and so even after all these films Amar’s career in Film Industry remained a Flop and he returned back to Television.

15. Sara Khan

The Miss Bhopal, Sara Khan, made her television debut in the Star Plus show Sapna Babul Ka..Bidaai. She played the role of a girl named Sadhna. Her acting was well received by the audience, and she became a household name in India. Even though her first movie was Dark Rainbow but it remained unreleased. So officially Sara made her debut in M3: Midsummer Midnight Mumbai. The film could not do well. She was last seen in a supporting role as Naila in the movie Hamari Adhuri Kahani in 2015.The actress is currently a part of the daily soap Kavach: Kali Shaktiyon se.
