Saluri Hanumantha Rao was a renowned music composer and a vocalist in the Tollywood industry. He was born in the year 1917 in Sivaramapuram, Vizianagaram District, India. His father Saluri Sanyasi Raju was a Mridangam player and a lyricist. His father accompanied Dwaram Venkataswami Naidu in his concerts as a Mridangam player. His brother S. Rajeswara Rao is also a well-known composer and singer in South Indian cinema. Hanumantha Rao started learning music under the guidance of Dwaram Venkataswami Naidu, who trained him in Carnatic and Hindustani Classical music. Some notable works by Rao as a composer are in movies Dakshayagnam, Usha Parinayam, Aradhana, Manushullo Devudu, Raithu Bidda, and many more. He was married to Raja Mani. The couple had three daughters and one son.Rao took his last breath on 27th May, 1980.
