Kavitha is a broadcast journalist, fact-checker, and international visitor leader who lives in Hyderabad, Telangana. She completed her master’s in communications and journalism at Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Nampally. Kavitha also obtained her Master of Philosophy degree in journalism at Osmania University, Andhra Pradesh. She worked as a broadcast journalist at TV9 Telugu, where she covered all kinds of topics ranging from environmental issues, gender issues, cultural issues, sports, crime, and political reporting. She also won the “Government Best Electronic Media Journalist Award" in 2009 and the “News Television Award" in 2012.
She also worked as a news anchor at Jai Telangana TV, where she did prime-time shows, political discussions, and daily shows for the competitive exams. She also won the “Telangana Government Best Electronic Media Journalist Award" in 2016 and the “Indiwood Media Excellence Award.” She worked as a bureau chief at the ABN Andhra Jyothi channel, where her primary duties included managing a team as a leader, conducting special discussion shows, political debates, and prime-time shows. She worked as a project consultant at PurpleTalk, a leading mobile gaming company based in Hyderabad, where she worked as a consultant for a news app named “Soch” on a short-term basis.
She worked as a freelance journalist at BBC Telugu, where her primary responsibilities included doing weekly episodes or conducting half-hour special interviews with women achievers in different areas of professions and also conducting celebrity interviews on a weekly basis. She worked as an editor at Newsmeter Telugu, where her primary responsibilities included doing freelance shows for Doordarshan Yadagiri, T-SAT, and rubbing her news-based YouTube channel as “Journalist Kavitha.” She worked as a special correspondent at NTV Telugu. She also worked as an associate editor at Idream Media, which is a digital media channel and includes primary responsibilities such as conducting political interviews, hosting prime-time debates, and hosting special shows. She also conducted some special series on environmental and child rights, gender-sensitive reporting, women empowerment stories, and human-interest coverages, and she also covered the Telangana separate statehood movement for eight years.
She also worked as a freelance translator for various websites such as BBC Telugu and YourStory.Com, doing translation work from English to Telugu and giving voiceovers for documentaries such as “DD Saptagiri Hyderbad.” Kavitha also covered news on all South Indian assembly and parliament elections and did some live broadcasting where she covered sensitive issues such as bomb blasts and natural disasters in North India. Kavitha is also an alumni of the State Department of the United States for gender-based violence and trafficking in persons programs. She has also been declared the winner for the best regional language electronic media journalist in Telugu in 2012.
