Every day so many people are coming into film industry either to fulfill their dreams as a director, actor, dancer or singer. Though Rajnesh Domalpalli does not belong to this kind, his debut directorial picture had won tons of awards. Born and brought up in Chennai, TamilNadu Rajnesh Domalpalli is from a Telugu family settled there. Completing his under graduation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1984 Rajnesh Domalpalli aspired to do Masters and further attended SUNY, SB and completed his graduation in 1986. Rajnesh had worked for almost 15 years as an engineer in Silicon Valley, America. He later completed his Masters of fine arts from Columbia University in 2006. To meet the requisites for the admission, Rajnesh Domalpalli had completed a range of visual art courses and also pursued filmmaking in 2001. Vanaja is his thesis film for the Columbia University and also his first ever directed movie. This movie released in 2006, had received a great response from all over the world in various film festivals till date. Rajnesh Domalpalli had made a wonderful motion picture using only just eight important characters, which had won hearts of so many critics.

Vanaja was screened at different international film festivals and won many prestigious and special awards. When it was first premiered in Toronto for Toronto international film festival, it got standing applause from the audience. Same year, i.e., in 2006 at Hamptons International Film for the Golden Starfish award, it had been rewarded with Honorable Mention. Vanaja, at Indo-American Arts council film festival, won the best narrative film award. From 2006 to 2008, for two years Vanaja got twenty-four international awards, honors, and many best reviews.

Rajnesh Domalpalli is not only a good movie maker but also an exceptional writer. He wrote so many stories and poems. His book Atreya Novel is a series of young adult fantasy stories about a 14-year old boy, Atreya. Domalpalli is also an adept poet and published few poems such as “I’m straw”, “Fire tree in bloom” etc. He is all ready to release his next movie Avani set out in India, and he completed the screenplay and editing. Rajnesh Domalpalli is not only a talented and skilled filmmaker but also an excellent storyteller and a writer shuffling with work between America and India.
