Lahari Velu is also known as Tulsi Ram Naidu. He is the brother of Manohar Naidu, who established Lahari Music in the year 1974. The company started with an initial capital of Rs.500. The company’s success can be explained best by the huge increase in its production volume of audio cassettes. At the initial stage, the production was five cassettes a month. This has now grown to four lakhs fifty thousand discs, per month. Lahari Velu is famous for taking bold decisions to change the market trend in the sales volume of music compact discs. One of them is his step taken to reduce the market price of the cassettes to Rs.20.

This effort nearly reduced the amount of piracy in the music market. As of the year 2016, Lahari has the ownership of more than 14000 titles of music albums. These include both film songs and individual artist’s albums. Tulsi Ram has a great passion towards music. Lahari Music has its office at Chamrajpet in Bangalore of Karnataka state in India. During the month of March 2011, Lahari Velu got kidnapped by a group of unknown persons over an issue of non-availability of music cassettes for a film. Later he was released safely. In the year 2012, Lahari Velu and other professionals of the same field created a group called Audio Video Association.

The association’s main aim was to remove the value added tax for their products. The music rights of the Telugu movie “Bahubali” was acquired by Lahari in the year 2015. The rights got obtained for an amount of Rs.3 Crores. There was an issue related to plagiarism for a movie Mr. Airavatha in the year 2015. The film’s music rights got purchased by Lahari Recording company. The plagiarism issue got raised by fans and later the issue was sorted out by forming a committee. In July 2016, Lahari Velu along with a chamber of distributors tried to screen the movie Kabali in luxury hotels like Royal Orchid.

But the permission for screening was denied by the deputy commissioner. These was an objection from Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. Tulsi Ram Naidu is also the brand ambassador of Audiolife. Audiolife is an institution offering professional courses for persons aspiring to enter media field. Lahari Velu is a talented and hardworking professional by nature. He proves to be an inspiration for other nurturing professionals.
