He was born and raised in a Telugu-speaking household in the Guntur district of the state of Andhra Pradesh and possesses a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Photography from Hyderabad's renowned Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University. Reddy further went on to claim a master’s degree in diploma in Cinematography from Pune's highly acclaimed Film and Television Institute of India.

Reddy debuted in alternate cinematography with the brief motion picture Ek Aakash, which earned the Special Jury Award (non-Feature Film) at the 51st National Film Award in 2003. The jury cited that kite flying, which began as basic combat between two children from dissimilar circumstances, has evolved into a one-upmanship competition. Both of them were motivated by their vanities and violent inclinations, yet eventually required assistance from one another as the reason for such a presentation.

Ek Aakash has also gained recognition and honors from far and wide, throughout the world, including a screening at the Four Art Film Fest in Slovakia, a special mention at the International Film Festival for Young and Children in Argentina, and Best Youth and Children's Film at the Association for International Broadcasting.
