Rakesh was born in the Telugu state of Andhra Pradesh and has established himself as a competent cinematographer in the Telugu film industry or Tollywood. Being a cinematographer behind the screen, he shows the audience the movie from his point of view through the lens and that has allowed him to produce several successful hits during his career. In 2013, Rakesh made his debut in the film Anthaka Mundu Aa Tharuvatha as an assistant cameraman. He has assisted with camera work on numerous films and served as cinematographer for Hero, a 2014 short drama of thirteen minutes.
