Banda Kanakalingeswara Rao (1907–1968) is most known for his roles in Telugu films. He joined the Andhra Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1957 and the Kendriya Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1952. In his hometown, he established the Shiva Temple and the Vedic School. He was born in 1907 in Andhra Pradesh. He enrolled at Machilipatnam's Noble College after finishing primary school. In 1932, he received his law degree from Madras Law College. He decided to pursue a career in theatre after working as a lawyer. In 1957, he popularised the Kuchipudi dance with Vedantam Parvatisam and supported the government in establishing Siddhendra Kalakshetra in the Kuchipudi tiny village. In 1989, this institution joined Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. He wrote several articles to bring this to the media spotlight. In 1956, he decided to join All India Radio and presented several plays. In 1963, he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
