K N. Kalai was a veteran Indian actor and dubbing artist who has contributed invaluably to the Tamil film and theatre industries. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he acted in more than a hundred movies and a thousand stage plays. He was the former vice president of the South Indian Artists’ Association, otherwise known as Nadigar Sangam.
The Tamil Nadu State Government bestowed upon him the Kalaimamani award, besides which he was also a recipient of the Nadaga Kavalar honor and an award from the Malaysian Government for his work in theatre. His last performance on the big screen was in a supporting role in Prasath Murugesan’s action-thriller “
