K N. Kalai was a veteran Indian actor and dubbing artist who has contributed invaluably to the Tamil film and theatre industries. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he acted in more than a hundred movies and a thousand stage plays. He was the former vice president of the South Indian Artists’ Association, otherwise known as Nadigar Sangam.
The Tamil Nadu State Government bestowed upon him the Kalaimamani award, besides which he was also a recipient of the Nadaga Kavalar honor and an award from the Malaysian Government for his work in theatre. His last performance on the big screen was in a supporting role in Prasath Murugesan’s action-thriller “ Kidaari Click to look into! >> Read More... ” (2016), starring Sasikumar. He passed away on 1st October 2016, aged 84, due to cardiac arrest after being ill for a long time.
