Peer Muhammed was a famous Mappilapattu Singer. He was born to his parents, Aziz Ahmed and Bilkis, on January 8, 1945. His father was from Thalassery, and his mother was from the native of Tenkasi. His birthplace was Surandai village near Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu. He moved to Thalassery with his father at the age of four. He graduated from Sir Syed College, Taliparamba, after schooling at Thayathangadi Thalimul Awam Madrasa UP School, St. Joseph's High School, Thalassery, and Mubarak High School.
He did his first music recording at seven. With a discography of over 4000 songs, he had never studied music. He has had a significant role in making Mappilapattu songs popular. He regularly sang for Thalassery Janata Sangeetha Sabha, the largest choir at that time. This is the stage that made people recognize him. From 1957 to 1990, he was a singer at HMV (His Master's Voice). As his father was an officer at Hindustan lever, he arranged the chance at Madras's HMV studio. For the first time, Mappilapattu was performed on a television channel, Chennai Doordarshan, in 1976. His experience of singing in thousands of programs in Kerala as well as abroad makes him a skillful artist. He has also worked in the music department for movies like Saajan Chale Sasural, Varalaaru, and Asha Jyoti.
Throughout his successful career, he has received many awards and recognitions, including The Muslim Cultural Center Award, The Kerala Mappila Kala Academy Award, The Moyinkutty Vaidyar Memorial Award, The Dubai Malabar Arts, Culture Venue Award, The All Kerala Mappila Sangeetha Academy Award, AV Muhammed Award and Kerala Folklore Academy Award. He died on January 16, 2021, at his residence in Muzhappilangad. For a long time, he had been going through treatment for paralysis and was suffering from age-related issues. His burial was at the Valapattanam Manna Cemetery.
