Purushottam Darvhekar

Purushottam Darvekar is an Indian writer and music producer. He was born on 1st June, 1926. He is a viral writer, and has ruled the hearts of people for ages. Talking about his educational qualifications, he completed his schooling at Nilcity High School, Nagpur. Later, he pursued B.Sc, after which, he went on doing M. A. LL.B. Before becoming a writer, he worked as a teacher at various schools like, Hadas High School, Kurve’s New Model High School, and Sule High School in Nagpur. Later, he joined Balvihar, which was an Akashvani radio in Nagpur. Gradually, he became a script writer and Assistant Producer. Darvekar worked as a producer at Delhi Doordarshan, and later moved to Mumbai. He worked in the All India Radio as a producer. He has been the head or leader of many groups, institutes, and drama companies.

He was highly respected by his pupils. By the time he retired, he had produced 700 scripts, of which the popular ones were on Pandit Nehru and the China war. He has even worked in the Marathi theatre. He made his debut in the theatre in 1947. By the time he passed college, he wrote a kid’s play named, Sampacha Vaar. The lead character of the play was from a school that he had visited. The 12-year-old girl was even the lead of Swargatil Kala Bazaar. Both these plays gained tremendous popularity. He was called Madhudada by the children. Later, they started calling him master. He was a brilliant writer and a multi-talented person. He was always ready to do various roles in a play if anyone was absent. He even contributed to the Marathi Industry by establishing a drama company called, Ranjan Kala Mandir. He is truly a gem in the industry. Later he died on September 21, 1999, at 73 due to a severe illness.
