Ashok Naigoankar is a Marathi language poet born on 29 December 1947 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He graduated with a B.com degree. After his education, he worked in the Bank of Baroda for 31 years and later voluntarily resigned. In 2010, he became a member of the Maharashtra State Board of Literature and Culture. The poet’s poems revolved around the concept of love, rural life, environmental consciousness poems, social awareness and political problems. He came from a poor family, perhaps why it was very natural for him to have depth and empathy in his writings. In 2012, he was elected as the 14th President of the Konkan Marathi Literary Conference held at Dapoli. He preached the need for rising writers.
His poems used to be published in the prestigious publication Satyakatha. His prose was featured in the Loksatta newspaper. Anthology poems by Naigokar are Poems on the road and Go to Kavita’s Village. He has done world tours to perform his poems in countries such as Dubai, Chicago, Singapore, Bangkok, London, Los Angeles, Israel, and many others. He was awarded the Kai State Level Award of the Bhai Futane Foundation.
