Gajendra Ahire is a Marathi director, actor, producer, screenplay and dialogue writer, and lyricist, born in Nashik and brought up in Mumbai. He was born on 16th February 1969. Gajendra started his career with the play Aaicha Ghar Unhacha, in which he was the playwright and played a role. He had written the script for the theater plays Unch Maza Jhoka Ga, Janmasiddha, and Ek Diwas Yeilach. Then, he ventured into the TV industry and started scripting for serials. He had also played in Marathi films in notable roles. He made his debut in 2002 as a director with the film Krishna Katachi Mira, which didn’t hit the screens. But, it received the Maharashtra State Awards for Best Actress, Best Singer Female, and Best Singer Male.

In 2003, he made his debut in direction with Not Only Mrs. Raut. The film received the honorary Silver Lotus Award and the Maharashtra State Film Award. Some of his movies are Pandhar, Vitthal Vitthal, Kandobachya Navan, Sarivar Sari, Sail, Diwasen Diwas, Shevri, Housefull, Chanda, Vasudev Balwat Phadke, Maay Baap, Summer Days, Anand Bhuvan, Chance, Bayo, Sawar Re, Gulmohar, Popcorn, Anudini, Sumbaran, Paradh, Hello Jai Hind!, Eka Shabdat Sangto, Naati Goti, Tya Ratri Paus Hota, Samudra, Saale Lower Middle Class, Pipaani, TouringTalkies, Postcard, Anvatt, Anumati, Postcard, Simhaasan, Swami Public Ltd., Chuup, Bioscope, Nilkant Master, Shasan and The Silence. Almost for all his films, he penned the script, screenplay, and dialogues. He had also directed a couple of Hindi films, Chanda and Just 47, for which he scripted the story, dialogues, and lyrics.

After a decade-plus, he reentered the theater industry with Shevgyachya Shenga that started staging in 2015. His 50th film came in the year 2019, and it is Kulkarni Chaukatla Deshpande. Besides being a director, actor, writer, and lyricist, he also composed music for Anumati. He received 17 Awards from the Maharashtra State Film Awards. He received the Filmfare Award, National Film Award, Silver Lotus Award, Stuttgart Indian Film Festival, and New York Indian Film Festival.
