Rajendra Talak is a Konkani and Marathi movie director, who was born in Comba, Margao. He finished his schooling at Mahila Nutan High School. He is a science graduate, who completed his graduation from Parvatibai Chowgule College. During his schooling, he was much interested in sports and had been a state player in table tennis. He represented his college in badminton too. Sushant Keshav Naik, a Tabla player is one of the friends of Rajendra. He launched a music band, Maheshkumar and Party. Rajendra Talak joined the band and was an active member too. After sometime, they merged with Gomant Vidya Niketan Kala Vibha, and started making stage plays in Marathi. From then, Rajendra started developing interest in the cinema. Their troupe was making a drama, Shitu and Rajendra Talak was composing the music. While working on this drama, he decided to make it a movie. He made it as a tele-film in 1994. In 2002, Talak started making the film, Aleesha, which is about mining in Goa and the pollution caused by them. In 2004, the film premiered at the International Film Festival of India, hosted by Goa. In 2006, he made a Konkani – Marathi bilingual film, Antarnaad / Savalee. It got premiered at the International Film Festival in 2006 and won seven state awards and five National Awards. In 2010, he made the bilingual film Saavariyaa.com. In 2011, he directed O Maria. In 2014, he directed A Rainy Day, a Marathi movie and it got premiered in Mumbai at the Jagran Film Festival. Besides directing films, he runs Talak Constructions and is also one of the founders of Kalangan Centre for Performing Arts in Margao. Talak is married to Priyanka Bidaye and has a son, Manas.
