K. Narayanan, born in Nandipuram in 1933, is an Indian editor and film director working for the Malayalam film industry. He has also worked as an editor in a few Tamil movies. He dropped out in the 8th grade and started his career in cinema in 1947. Narayanan’s first independent project was a Kannada film named Sadarame. His first Malayalam film was Ashadeepam, which was released in 1953. K. Narayanan has worked in over 200 Malayalam and Tamil films. A few Malayalam films edited by him are Arappavan in 1961, Ramanan in 1967, Pareeksha in 1967, Manaswini in 1968, Kalpana in 1970, Abhayam in 1970, Siksha in 1971, Nathooon in 1974 and Anjali in 1977.
He has also edited a few Tamil films like Sivagangai Seemai in 1959, Panathottam in 1963, Paadha Kaanikkai in 1962, Pattampoochi in 1975, Andavan Kattalai in 1964, and Kuppathu Raja in 1979. K. Narayanan directed the films Kaalachakram, Nathoon, Malsaram, and Sundarimare Sookshikkuka. He is also the art director of Ragam and Johny. Mr. Narayanan has received the Kerela State Film Award for Best Editor four times. He is married to Sarojini.
