Alex J. Pulickal is an Indian director of photography who works behind the camera in Malayalam movies. He was born on 3rd December in Pulinkunnoo in Alappuzha district of Kerala, where he completed his schooling from St. Joseph’s Academy. He graduated from St. Joseph’s College of Communication in Changanassery, Kerala with a degree in multimedia and expertise in photography. His first professional shooting was for the short film “Veettamma Mallus” (2011) which aired on Kairali TV. He was the cinematographer for various other short films, including “The Hole” (2012) and “Chilappol Chilar” (2012) before he became a part of the crew of his first movie “ABCD: American Born Confused Desi” (2013).
His first major movie as a cinematographer was Abrid Shine’s comedy-drama “ Action Hero Biju Click to look into! >> Read More... ” (2016). The film was a huge success and was the highest opening-day grossing Malayalam movie in Kerala. The frames captured by Alex in the movie were stunning and paved the way for his next movies “ Sunday Holiday Click to look into! >> Read More... ” (2017), “Diwanjimoola Grand Prix” (2018) and “Nonsense” (2018). In his latest contribution, he shot the scenes for Rahul Riji Nair’s comedy “Dakini” (2018). He has recently wrapped up shooting for his upcoming movie “Underworld”, directed by Arun Aravind. The movie, which is in its post-production stages and features Asif Ali, will be distributed in August this year by Vijay Babu’s company Friday Film House.
