Sampurn Anand is a writer, director, producer and editor, who works in the Indian TV industry. Sampurn ironically did not set out to become a writer, especially not in the film industry. He completed his studies and set out to become a chef. He continued working on his cookery skills and eventually stepped foot in Mumbai, and that’s where things changed for him. He got a whiff of the glamour that Mumbai produces and instantly wanted a taste of it. He made his debut as a writer on the super-hit TV soap opera called ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’. His writing impressed everyone and that was the start of the career, he went on to write more than 600 episodes and won various awards. This show kick-started his career with a bang as he started getting offers for many other projects.
In 2001, he worked on a one of a kind TV documentary called ‘ Musafir Hoon Yaaron Musafir Hoon is one of India’s first internationa >> Read More... ’. In 2002, he also worked on a new show on which he was the creative producer called ‘Astitv Ek Prem Kahani’. Since then, as a writer, he went on to work for over 7000 episodes on numerous TV serials like Kabhi Aaye Na Judai, Chhoona Hai Aasmaan Chhoona Hai Aasmaan is an Indian television drama >> Read More... , Saathi Re, Saath Phere Saloni Ka Safar, Kayamath and many more. His latest work as a writer was on ‘Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan’. During all these years, he also worked as an Assistant Vice President for India’s prime TV network the ‘Zee TV’. He also went to show his entrepreneurial skills when he founded Sampurn Media, which is a conglomerate for media companies and Pen Men At Work, which is a management company for writers.
After working several years in India, he decided to try his luck out in Hollywood, where he went to direct his first-ever short film called ‘The Last Prayer’. This was a critically adored film about the head of a sleeper cell terrorist organization, the story centers around a call that the head of the organization receives right before a suicide bomber is about the attack on the President of The United States of America. In 2013, he produced a short film called I-589, a story about an illegal immigrant mother, who is forced to flee her home country to the United States in search of a better tomorrow. Sampurn also worked as an assistant director on a number of small-time TV series in the USA.
