Mridula Garg is a famous Indian writer & author who writes in English and Hindi languages. She was born on October 25, 1938. Mridula Garg’s birthplace is Calcutta in West Bengal. She took a Master’s degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics in 1960. She has also worked as a teacher at the University of Delhi for three years, where she taught economics. She pushed the boundaries of feminism and the perspectives and experience of feminist Muslim & Dalit women in her writings. She started writing stories & novels from a very young age. She also wrote Kataksh (Satire) in India Today (Hindi) magazine for seven years (2003 – 2010).
Her many stories and novels have translated into Indian and foreign languages, including German, Japanese, Czech, and English. Her following works, Anitya novel translated into Marathi (2014) & English (2010), Miljul Mann novel translated into Urdu (2016), Punjabi (2017), Tamil (2018), Rajasthani (2018), and Telugu (2018) from the Hindi language. She has published over thirty books in Hindi and English, including novels, short story collections, plays, and essays. In April 1990, she was a research associate at the Centre for South Asian Studies at the University of California-Berkeley, USA. She spoke on Hindi literature, criticism, and discrimination against women.
She has got awarded several awards, including Sahitya Sanman by the Hindi Academy in Delhi (1988), Sahitya Bhushan by the U.P. Hindi Sansthan (1999), the Maharaja Vir Singh Puraskar from the M.P.
