Sheetal Khandal is currently working as TV actress and portraying the role of Gehna Basant Singh in a very high TRP Hindi show Balika Vadhu — Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte which airs on TV 18 Network’s channel Colors. The show is also telecasted in Raj TV as Mann Vasani which is dubbed version.

Sheetal did some photo shoots for print media and was a part time model before joining Balika Vadhu cast. Sheetal Khandal was misrecognized as Nivedita Kohli for at least 2 years after she started playing the character. Even the Wikipedia and other news in media recognized her as Nivedita Kohli. She repelled the news strongly and revealed herself as Sheetal Khandal. 

About her future plans, she has been auditioned for many assignments for TV shows and South Indian movies while the names are not revealed yet. Regarding the question about her acting preferences, she strongly supports theatre work and would like to be part of such assignments.

She plays the resilient and a strong character of Gehna, who is shown as someone who handles grief courageously even after the untimely demise of her husband Basanth Singh and the opposition she faced from the society and the societal pressure. Albeit in real life, she is a bubbly and lively individual. Switching between her real self and the reel self she says is a challenge. She has been playing the role of Gehna from the past two years after she replaced television actress Neha Marda.

As a young child too, she was a head full of dreams that always dreamt of becoming big, an actress, but coming from an orthodox family, she had to adhere to the societal pressures.  She eventually got her big break and proved her mettle when she starred opposite Aamir Khan in a popular brand commercial. After which she was auditioned for the role of Gehna and successfully bagged the role. Playing Gehna she says is a dream come true. The character of   Gehna is very close to her heart, not only because it is her first major break but also because of having experienced opposition in real life and having successfully risen above it, is what she says helps her identify with the character of Gehna. 

Strangely, she had been mistaken as Nivedita Kohli several times in the media, although it is mentioned correctly on the official Colors website. She had been vocal about the goof-up and was upset for having been identified by the other name. Sheetal enjoys spending time exploring in her hometown Jaipur as well as Indore. Indore, she says is close to her heart as it reminds her of her home town. When she is not busy shooting she spends her time listening to music and catching up on novels.
