Kanu Gill is an Indian actress who has worked in many television shows as well as in Bollywood movies. She is well-known as ‘Mohini Basu’, a Bengali character played by her in a third longest running Indian television series named ‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki'. Kanu Gill is basically from Amritsar and even after being from Punjab; she played a Bengali role and made everyone shocked by her fluent Bengali accent. She belongs to an Army background as she was the daughter of Squadron Leader, Mr. Jarnail Singh, and Satwant Kaur Randhawa. Her family was an academically oriented family but Kanu always wanted to be an actress. She has done her schooling in Agra, Jamnagar and Kanpur.

These places helped her to get a grasp on local languages. She got married to Col. R. S. Gill immediately after her schooling but she continued her studies and completed her Graduation and Post-Graduation after that. She got blessed with two children a daughter, who is presently well settled as a doctor in abroad and a son named Sartaj Gill, who is also a very popular television actor today. Later, she took a job as a teacher. Her original name was Kulwinder Randhawa but she changed it to Kanu Gill just to change her identity from a school teacher to an actress.

She had also participated in many dance functions, dramas, fashion shows and Army functions which helped her very much during her audition to Ekta Kapoor for the television serial ‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki'. Apart from the Balaji Television series, Kanu Gill has also worked on other television shows like Saara Akaash in which she played the role of AOC’s wife and the mother of Flight Lieutenant Monica Singh.

The show got huge popularity among the viewers and so does Kanu Gill. She has also seen in as supporting actress in many Bollywood movies like Mrityudaata (1997), Prithvi (1997), Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya (1997), Bhai Bhai Bhai Bhai is a family comedy series which has been >> Read More... Instead of belonging to a conventional family, Kanu Gill has not only followed her passion but also made her mark in the television industry as well as in Bollywood. She is still remembered as ‘Anurag's mother ‘from the television show ‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki'.
