A typically Punjabi girl, Poonam Preet loves food and loves Delhi, her hometown. She graduated from Delhi University and later moved to Mumbai in 2011. She likes Mumbai as a city but misses Delhi and the Dilliwala flavor of life. She loves to roam around with friends. Sources say she is dating co-actor Sanjay R Gagnani, though the two of them deny this. Sanjay and Preet stuck to each other in their struggle days when they moved from Delhi to Mumbai.

Poonam’s ultimate dream is to make a name in Bollywood, though as of now she has not got any offers. On the other hand she has worked in two South Indian films. Other than this she has done several print ads, television commercials and some theater.

, a serial based on paranormal incidents gave Poonam her debut stint. Currently, Poonam is portraying the role of Maya in Zee TV’s serial Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se. Maya is the character of a young bubbly girl, full of life that is happy with her husband and can’t imagine life without him. She is also playing the role of Kangana in the daily soap aired on Star Plus, which is a suspense thriller. Kangana is the younger sister of the male lead Shaurya.

Poonam was awarded The Indian Telly Awards for Best Actress in Supporting Role.
