Roshan Taneja

Roshan Taneja was a renowned Indian acting coach and a pioneer of method acting in India. He was born on May 12, 1937, in Sialkot, Punjab (now in Pakistan), and He was 87 when he died in Mumbai on May 10, two months after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Roshan Taneja’s belonged to North West Frontier Province, now in Pakistan. When Roshan was a child, his family relocated to Kanpur. His wife’s name was Mithika Taneja and his sons were Rohit and Rahul Taneja. Roshan Taneja was an Indian actor and acting coach, widely regarded as the pioneer of method acting in India. He was born in Mumbai and grew up in Shimla. His father was a magistrate in the Indian Civil Services, and his mother was a housewife. Taneja completed his education in Shimla and then moved to Delhi to study at the National School of Drama (NSD).

After completing his training at the NSD, Taneja moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. Taneja was also the founder and former head of the Acting Department at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune.
