Devyani Saltzman is an Indo-Canadian Writer, Actor, and Journalist. Devyani was born in the year 1979. Her father Paul Saltzman, an award-winning Jewish Ukrainian Film Maker. Her paternal grandfather and maternal uncle are also related to FIlms. Her parents broke their marriage when she was 11 years old. Devyani got her Human Science degree in Hertford College at Oxford University in Oxford, England. Devyani used to work with her mother as a crew member on the film sets. She worked as a crew member for the first time with Deepa Mehta’s third film “Water” (2005).
She also worked as an actor in two of her mother’s films. The films are “Fire” (1996) and “Camilla” (1994). Devyani turned as an author as she wrote the book “Shooting Water: A Memoir of Second Chances, Family, and Filmmaking.” She also worked for The Globe and Mail, The Literacy Review of Canada, the Atlantic, Tehelka, The National Post, and many more Magazines, where she used to write articles. She got appointed as Directory of Literary Arts at Banff Centre Centre of Arts and Creativity in 2014. Since 2018, she is working as a Director of Public Programming in the Art Gallery of Ontario.
