Indrani Bhattacharjee, born on October 2, 1989, is a young and talented artist from Kolkata, currently living in Mumbai. She is best known as one of the finalists in
; an out-of-the-box singing reality TV show aired on Colors TV. She is now the lead singer of her band Softrock Blues from Kolkata, a prominent part of the band Rock n Souls from Mumbai and performs worldwide. Indrani started taking music lessons from as young as two years old. Singing is her only passion.
She is well-trained in Indian Classical music, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet and has taken training in Tappa music form for more than 10 years. She can also play various musical instruments like guitar, violin, mandolin, mouth organ, tabla and darbuka. She attended the Victoria Institution, Kolkata and had completed her B. Sc in Computer Science from Calcutta University. She was quite proactive during her school and college days and often took part in various music competitions. A chocolate lover, she came very close to her mother after her father’s death. Indrani’s first appearance on TV as a participant in X-Factor India, a music talent show that aired on Sony Entertainment Television in 2011.
Then the 22 years old Indrani touched the hearts of the Judges-

- by her beautiful acoustic rendition of the song “Udi” from Guzaarish (2010) in her first audition in Kolkata. She got selected in the first round but unfortunately couldn’t pass through the later rounds of audition. A year later, she participated in the show Sur Kshetra, a musical battle between two teams of the two neighbouring countries: India and Pakistan. Music director-cum-singer
led the Pakistani team and the Indian team was in charge of music director and singer,
; the Jury: Asha Bhonsle from India,
from Pakistan and
from Bangladesh would decide the winning team/artist. Indrani was a part of the Indian team. She delivered many powerful performances during her stint in the show.
Some of the notable ones were her performances on the songs like “Haal-e-Dil” from Murder 2 (2011), “Bheegi Bheegi Si” from Life in a Metro (2007), “Pehli Nazar” from Race (2008) and “Ainvayi Ainvayi” from
Band Baaja Baaraat
(2010). Asha Bhonsle was so impressed by this young talent that she gave her the nickname “Lady Rockstar” in one of the episodes. Inspite, of her praiseworthy performances, she ultimately faced elimination in the twelfth episode of Sur Kshetra. Indrani has recorded a few Bengali songs like “Ja Kichhu Cheyechho Tai Judi Pao” from the album All Time Greats-
, “Ami Roilam” from Tumi Chole Gecho and “Bone Ki Aagun Legeche” from Neel Dhrubatara, both the albums by Hemanta Mukherjee. She has also sung the Hindi song “Dil Jaan” from Bally Sagoo’s album Future Shock. She was honoured with the West Bengal State Music Academy Award. Indrani is now travelling and performing across the country and is also giving worldwide performances.
