Vijay Dayal

Vijay Dayal is a Sound Engineer and Recordist. He is the Chief Sound Engineer at Yash Raj Films. He is the head of India’s leading audio recording faculty, so he has to ensure the proper functioning of the facility as well as record and mix the songs at both the studios. He has worked for over 20 years in the field of sound engineering. He has been a part of several vital and path-breaking projects.

He has completed his studies at Nagpur University. He began working as a sound engineer in August 2005 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, at YRF- Yash Raj Films. He is currently working as Chief Sound Engineer, at YRF. He began as a musician – a guitarist. But his interests in the technical aspect of music and the science behind it intrigued him and he got involved in Live sound. He began working as an assistant with Pramod, and his experience as a sound engineer began with that in the year 1999.

He was an assistant to Pramod for six months and then had been placed at Studio Plaza (a small post-production studio), as chief engineer. He has worked in the music department in films such as Bachna Ae Hasino (2008) as a music recording engineer and score pre-mixer, in Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (2015) did music mixing and mastering, in Dhadak (2018), he did song mixing. In a short video titled Gaayeja, he did music mixing as a mastering engineer, and in Tanhaiyan (2020) as well. He worked as a Sound recording engineer in Veer Zaara (2004), did sound mixing and recording for Sultan (2016), and in War (2019), he worked on the soundtrack. He has received the Engineer of the Decade award by Mirchi Music Awards (Hindi) for the film “Agnipath” and Engineer of the Decade award by Mirchi Music Awards (Marathi) for the film Sairat both in 2021, and in 2017, he received Mirchi Music Award for Jabra Fan for the film “Fan” and in 2015 the Mirchi Music Award Marathi for Adhir Mann for the film Nilkanth Master.
