Andrew Belletty is an Indian-born Australian audio-visual designer, vibrotactile media artist, and writer who works with digital and analog media in multicultural contexts, focusing on the vibrotactile materiality of sound applications in visual, performance, and media arts. His work generates encounters that enlighten, inspire, and trigger emotional responses through personal, tactile, visual, and aural experiences in both gallery and site-specific installations.
The multi-layered, experimental, and site-responsive works are inspired by traditional Indian knowledge and practices that link bodies and heal the country while reconfiguring audio-visual technology to create a decolonized techno-environment. Andrew is a founding member of the famed Australian band Yothu Yindi, as well as a cinematic sound designer with hundreds of movie credits. Andrew received his Ph.D. in Visual Anthropology, Art, Design, and Media from the National Institute of Experimental Arts at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
