Minu Bakshi is a multitalented and versatile singer and Urdu poet. She is the chairperson of the UK Asian Film Festival, London, and the NGO Savera, a society for uplifting underprivileged women and children. Minu did her schooling at St. Thomas School in Delhi and pursued graduation from Miranda House, Delhi University, in Delhi. She learned the Spanish language after completing her M.Sc and M.Phil. from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Minu enhanced her knowledge of Spanish at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. Minu settled in Delhi with her husband, Kanwaljit Bakshi. She had been working as the interpreter of the President and Prime Minister on various occasions over many decades.
Minu Bakshi presented the Punjabi wedding album “Lao Mehndiyan I and II,” a traditional folk song album that became a best seller. Following this, she also nominated for the Best Punjabi Album in the ETC Music Awards in 2006. Her singing range crosses various genres of music, folk, ghazal, pop, and Sufi. She was conferred with the “Order of Isabella la Catolica” by the Spanish Ambassador on September 14, 2014, for her services towards promoting Spain and its culture, which is the 2nd Highest Order given to a foreigner by the King of Spain. Minu’s third song album is “ Phir Se Click to look into! >> Read More... ,” a collection of eight timeless ghazals of some of the poets of her era.
