Kapil Thapa

Kapil Thapa is a sensational playback singer and also a sought after performer, who rose to fame after appearing on the reality singing show, Indian Idol. The singer is not just known for his magical voice, but also his spectacular stage presence. 

Kapil Thapa is of Nepali origin and was born in Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Kapil hails from a family of military background. His father, Kishan Singh Thapa, is a retired military man. Kapil has two brothers, Kushal Thapa and Keshav Thapa, both serving in the military. So, as his father and brothers, Kapil got enlisted in the military in the year 2003. Kapil’s interest in music made him join the Jazz band in the army. He further honed his singing skills by participating in the events organized by the army. Kapil served the last two years of his military period in Sikkim.

During his time in the army, his musical talents came to light. So after getting discharged from the service, he started his musical career through a reality show.  Kapil attended the audition for Sony Entertainment’s singing reality show, Indian Idol season 4 in 2007. Post Indian Idol, Kapil did several music shows and released many music covers. Due to his immense popularity in Nepal, Kapil traveled to Nepal in 2009. Other than Nepal, the singer has flown to various countries to perform at concerts. Kapil’s Nepali album “Idols” was a huge hit in Nepal and Dehradun. Kapil Thapa got married to his fellow contestant and winner of the Indian Idol show, Sourabhee Debbarama, in 2016. Besides singing, Kapil likes dancing; this makes him a wholesome performer. Though not professionally trained in music, Kapil Thapa has managed to reach the level he is in now is total because of his hard work and talent.
