Hamsika Iyer

Hamsika Iyer was born on April 12th, 1972. She is an Indian artist who lives in Mumbai. She is a popular voice with world-class jingles and is a Marathi television actress and has sung songs in different languages like Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Bengali movies. She has won many awards, and she is a living multilingual actor, world-class musician, and multi-talented artist. She has been a part of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil 'Champs Grand Jury for 2 years. She comes from a musical background family. Her father is Shri .S. Balachandran.

She is trained under him in South Indian music. She is very grateful to all her well-wishers for always guiding and encouraging her. In 1995, the first Saregama started and her family and friends pushed her for an audition. She went in reluctantly and was very confident that she would not be selected, she was shocked when she was selected and she reached the finals where Khayyam Sahab came as a judge at that moment she was nervous and she did not know what to sing and she cried out in anger and frustration at reaching the finals though she lost in the competition she very well handled it which changed her life.

She is very happy that she lost in the final because that is where she told herself, she has to have something for herself to get to this level and started to look at music in a very different way, and from then on she made music her best friend, she started singing in a lot of commercial films. On this trip, she met some great artists who helped shape her into a better artist(singer). She met Shantanu Moitra who filmed a few commercials for her. Shortly afterward, The song "Chanda re" from an Eklavya film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra in 2007 was released. This song is the only song in the film, it has made many people sit and notice her words.

Later, Vishal-Shekar called her for the song "chammak challo" which was no doubt a big hit. After that, she also received a call from Vishal-Shekar for the Chennai Express movie song “1234 gets on the dance floor” which was an Amazing duet with Vishal Dadlani. After these 2 songs, Pritam gave her "Raabta" from the Vinod agent. She is so happy to sing one of the best love songs written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. After these songs, she kept doing a few regional songs again. As she is trained in classical music. Collaboration is something she has always longed for, as a hungry kid as soon as the chammak challo came out, she packed up and collaborated with an electronic & psychedelic band called "Juno reactor", which gave the music to the Hollywood film "matrix".

She learned a lot as an artist and as a person during a visit to the Juno reactor from 2012-to 2015, they also had an explosion in Japan (Tokyo & Osaka). She met some amazing and humble artists while visiting the Juno reactor and has combined her old Indian style with western music. She has traveled to other gigs and has met thousands of people at festivals. She also had the opportunity to join the U.K.-based group "Bombay Dub Orchestra". Andrew T. Mackay & Garry Hughes gave her a few lovely songs on their album 3 cities and fairy tales from the great bazaar. She also had the privilege of meeting a talented guitarist and multi-instrumentalist named Amir John Haddad for his album 'dos' and joined the kickass base guitarist 'Pepe bao' for the album.
