His father was an Army Officer Sri Kasturi Lal Chopra. Ashok was known for his singing throughout his school life. Moreover, he was a studious and dedicated student. Ashok was always interested in the Arts field. It is known that for eleven years in school, Ashok conducted the school prayers and was always the winner of his school singing competition from the sixth grade to the twelfth grade, consecutively. He was always selected as the leader of the music choir of his school, and because of this, he started gaining fame for his singing talent.
Ashok used to be the topper in his school, thus he cleared his M.B.B.S and further went on to pursue M.S. After completing his medical studies at Armed Forces Medical College, he joined the military in the year 1974. After retiring from the army in the year 1997, Dr. Ashok established three hospitals in Bareilly renowned as Kasturi Hospitals. Although Dr. Ashok achieved great success in his medical career, his passion for music never faded. He arranged programs such as Army Wife Welfare and Army Welfare Association, which were both huge successes. His singing programs would sometimes last for the whole week due to his popularity among the soldiers. Furthermore, he also performed for many programs in Delhi with the famous orchestra Bullets and Friends. He would sing and perform for every occasion, such as the Naatia Kala, Gurbani, Bhajans, and Kirtans. Inspiring by Dr. Ashok, T-Series released a cassette and CD named Kalame Ala Hazrat and Har Har Shankar with him. Moreover, he would host programs at different temples for good causes, he used his hobby alive by doing charity shows for the armies or an old age home, building a school, or setting up a temple. Dr. Ashok passed away on 10th June 2013.
