Padmashree Anwar Khan Manganiyar, a talented folk artist, was born in 1960 in the village Baiya of district Jaisalmer. With his parents as his gurus, Anwar started singing and performing at functions as a child. When Swargiya Komal Kothari heard his music, he was extremely moved and decided to showcase Anwar's talents to the world. On 8 November 2021 Anwar was presented with the Padmashree Award for his contribution to making the country proud. Anwar and his troupe have traveled to over 50 countries and he continues to live in Barmer, training the next generation.
