Bankim Pathak

Bankim Pathak, born Bankim Pravinchandra Pathak, is a renowned singer working primarily in the Hindu TV and Film Industry, Bollywood. Bankim was born on July 3rd, 1948. He was born and brought up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Bankim drew inspiration from his father, a well-known folk singer, and fell in love with music. Bankim would participate in music festivals and functions in school. He would sing in the assembly and gather confidence. He received help from people around him, like his school principal. Bankim completed his graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1969 at St. Xavier’s College. Bankim trained his voice and participated in almost all functions in college to sing. He would mostly sing the songs of his favorite legendary singer, Mohamad Rafi.

He was so good at singing and was crowned with the title ‘Voice of Rafi’ by his friends, family, and colleagues. Teachers like Shri Navinbhai Shah and Professor Sudhir Khandekhar taught Bankim about music and voice articulation. Bankim dedicates his talent to his teachers, the Orchestra Khandekhar Brothers, and the radio artist Shri Krishnakant Parikh. Bankim started to work for Khandekar Brother’s orchestra in 1976 and sang for them as a lead singer. Bankim’s first breakthrough came in the form of a show or concert. He performed the ‘Bankim- Anila Concert’ 1980 alongside female singer Anila Gohil at Jaishankar Sundri Hall, Ahmedabad. The concert gained widespread popularity, and the audience loved Bankim and his vocal talents. He became famous and performed other shows in cities like Surat, Baroda, etc.

When the iconic singer Mohamad Rafi passed away in 1980, Bankim and all of India were heartbroken. In this time of need, Bankim rose to appreciate and dedicate his life and work to the singer. He started ‘Ek Yaad Rafi Ke Baad’ with Anila Gohil to reach out to those few music lovers who could not get past the retro Bollywood music. Bankim sings in memory of Mohamad Rafi and honors him. Bankim has performed more than three thousand shows across various states listed here Gujarat, Pune, Maharashtra, Bangalore, Rajasthan, Calcutta, etc. He has performed with iconic singers like Anila Gohil and Daksha Gohil. Bankim is a good and kind man. He once donated more than six lakhs to St. Merry Children’s Hospital, London, and performs charity shows for disabled people.
