Raghu Dixit, born in Mysuru, Karnataka, is a famous singer, songwriter, music composer and producer who founded The Raghu Dixit Project, which is a platform for artists and musicians from various genres to create and showcase their talents. Dixit’s music is rooted in Indian culture and traditions, depicted in a contemporary form. Raghu Dixit is a master level Bharathanatiyam dancer. He studied microbiology and was working in Belgium as a scientist. He was always passionate about music, thus, he also played on a local radio station in Belgium. At the age of 24, he returned to India and worked as a technical writer in a software company for a year and a half. It was then when radio city rose in Bangalore, and he started making music for them and started his home studio. He started his career by starting his first band called Antargini in 1997 which was popular amongst the youth. He later started The Raghu Dixit Project. Dixit was later invited by Shashank Ghosh to perform in music night at Mumbai, where the music director duo, Vishal-Shekhar appreciated his music and decided to launch him along with their music label. The album was released on 20th September 2010. The title song of the MTV shows Splitsvilla was composed and sung by Raghu Dixit. In November 2013, Then Raghu Dixit Project released their second album, ‘Jag Changa’ which had eight tracks in Indian languages like Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. He also gave his music for the contemporary dance troupe, ‘Nritarutya’ and performed with them for the Queen’s diamond jubilee celebration in 2012 in England. He debuted in Kannada movie ‘Psycho’ as a music director in 2008. He has sung and composed many songs in various languages. He has performed in ‘FIESTA’ at Infosys and also at MSRIT Bengaluru. He has performed with the rock band ‘Agnee’ for the mood indigo cultural festival. He has performed in various institutes like The Dhirubai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, P.E.S Institute and Technology, UTDC (Institute of chemical technology) in Mumbai and several other institutes and fests in India. In October 2015, he performed in one of the largest cultural festivals in India, “THOMSO” Of IIT Roorkee. He has performed in the world’s largest fest, ‘Glastonbury Festival’ and has been featured on many TV shows. He has received awards in Songliness Music Awards 2008 as Best Newcomer Award, SFM Kalaa Awards 2008 as Favorite Singer Award, UK Asian Music Awards as Best Alternative Act, GIMA Music Awards as Best Live Performer Award.
