Angaraag Mahanta is an Indian composer, singer and record artist. Angaraag is the founder and lead singer of Papon, a folk fusion band and also for The East India Company. He was born on November 24, 1975. His parents Archana Mahanta and Khagen Mahanta were bothe Assamese folk singer. He started learning music early in life. He spent most childhood life in Assam and was born in Guwahati. Angaraag went through training for Folk music, Devotional Music, and Classical. He is presently residing in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He got his nickname as Papon from the band he made in 2007. Angaraag is survived by his wife Shweta Mishra Mahanta and two children, Puhor and Parijat.
