Saeed Wajid Hussein Rizvi, better known by his film name Agha Jani Kashmir, was an Indian screenwriter, actor, and Urdu poet; he was born on October 16, 1908, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has worked as a writer for many classics in Bollywood cinema, from the first Indian blockbuster Kismet (1943) to the Palme d'Or nominated Mujhe Jeene Do (1963) and Naya Zamana (1971). Aga Jani Kashmir was born on October 16, 1908, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. In his late teens, he ran away from home to star in an early Bollywood film, Shan e Subhan (1933) (credited variously as Shan e Subhan and Shane Subhan). He was the first cousin of Nawab Kashmir from Lucknow, the most famous character actor of early Indian cinema, in hits such as Yahudi ki Ladki (Jewish Daughter), where Nawab played an elderly Jew.

Inspired partly by Aghajani then returned to Kolkata to play some minor leading roles. The three films he appeared in were Miss His Manorama, Anokiada, and Babi. All three are his 1930s films. Having a literary background in Urdu, he was a pupil of the famous Urdu poet Arzu Lachnavi and studied Urdu literature.
