Upendra Sidhaye is a well-known screenplay and story writer, actor and director in Hindi and Marathi Film Industry. He was born on 8 October 1980 and brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. He completed his graduation in Commerce. He pursued his post graduation in Mass Communication from Pune University.
Due to his interest towards direction and story writing he started grooming himself by participating in several workshop related to direction and acting. He also got involved in theatre activities. He became a member of theatre group Maitree, Pune.
He also participated in Purushottam Karandak in which he directed and acted in a Marathi play Enigma. In this event Upendra received the award for Best Direction. He also worked as Assistant director in Mumbai Meri Jaan. From his debut Bollywood movie he won several honour and admiration. He received prestigious Filmfare Award and Cine Blitz Award for Mumbai Meri Jaan in the Best Screenplay category. He was also nominated for Asia Pacific Screen Awards in 2009.Mumbai Meri Jaan spoke about the spirit of Mumbai and Mumbaikar's and it touched everyone's heart. After the immense admiration for his work in Mumbai Meri Jaan, he got work in Bollywood film Payback as a Screenplay writer. The movie was released in 2010. Some of his prominent movies are Manjha in which he worked as Dialogue writer, in Drishyam he worked as a screenwriter, in Killa which is a 2015 released movie he worked as a Dialogue writer, in Blood Money and Payback he worked as a screenwriter. He has also played cameo roles in movie Mumbai Meri Jaan as Hotel Receptionist and in 2011 movie Force he played the role of Actor Raja.
He is working on his latest project which is a Marathi horror film called Episode 13.Apart from writing the script he is also acting in this film. As a writer he always wanted to try his hands on different genre. He is of the view that when you try anything new there is eagerness and excitement which helps you to explore and helps you to think in a different manner and try new approach.
