Gaurav Banerjee

Gaurav Banerjee is a Hindi Producer, head, and president of English and Hindi entertainment at Star India. He is post-graduate in Film Making and Video, from Mass Communications Research Centre, at Jamia Milia Islamia University, in Delhi. He has worked with the Aaj Tak news channel as a journalist. He leads various departments of Star Network that include movie channels, Hotstar original content, and general entertainment. He joined Star India Network in 2004, as executive editor and anchor of Star News, prime time show. He shifted on to direct the content strategy of the regional entertainment channels of the network, in 2008. He extended the company to the new markets, Maharashtra and Bengal, with Star Pravah and Star Jalsha, respectively. Star Jalsha became the number-one Bengali channel in India, within a year.

In October 2009, he shifted to Head of the Content Strategy, on Hindi entertainment at Star Plus. He was accountable for the popular shows on Star Plus channel, like Sasural Genda Phool and Diya Aur Baati Hum. In 2013, he was promoted as the General Manager of Star Plus. He shoved the Star Plus into a powerful leadership brand with chartbuster shows, like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein Yeh hai Mohabbatein is an Indian soap opera of the >> Read More... , Mahabharta, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and more. Around 2016, the Star entertainment channel became available across various screens.

He became in charge of the Content Studio as a leader, and refreshed the storytelling viewpoint for Star Bharat, and Star Plus. He also directs Star Network’s English content portfolio, which includes Star World and Star Movies. He fortified the Hotstar library with world-class and top-notch content that attracted a broad audience interest, with Hotstar Specials. He worked as an executive producer in the TV Series, are Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story and Aarya in 2021, and The Great Indian Murder in 2022.
