Dharam Oberoi Hindi Actor

Dharam Oberoi

Dharam Oberoi is a Bollywood producer from Mumbai. He is the father of Neha Oberoi, a Bollywood actress. He was once the manager and CEO of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt’s production house, Sanjay Dutt Productions. Due to a huge controversy, Sanjay Dutt sacked Dharam Oberoi and broke all his ties with him which became a hot topic in the Bollywood tabloids for quite some time. Dharam Oberoi and Sanjay Dutt have been very close friends. He was Sanjay’s right hand and the chief of his production house. In fact, Sanjay Dutt, Dharam Oberoi, and director Sanjay Gupta has been in a tightly knit group. Oberoi is Sanjay Gupta’s brother in law. He was also associated with the production house White Feathers Films, which was initially a joint venture of Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta. Under that banner, Dharam Oberoi co-produced with Sanjay Gupta to deliver movies like Plan (2004) and Dus Kahaaniya (2007), both of which starred Sanjay Dutt along with other actors. But gradually things started falling apart between the friends. Sanjay Dutta and Sanjay Gupta had major fallout after their movie Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) in which Dharam Oberoi took Sanjay Dutt’s side. Eventually, Sanjay Dutt opted out of White Feather Films and started his separate production house Sanjay Dutt Productions in which Dharam became the CEO and Sanjay Dutt’s manager as well. Dharam used to manage Sanjay Dutt’s business deals, monetary affairs as well as personal needs. With time he came so close to Dutt that he started interfering in his acting and major decisions. People started warning Dutt of Dharam’s dominating influence over his life. Things took a nasty turn when Dharam started creating problems during Dutt’s shooting in Ram Gopal Varma’s Department (2012). During the shoot, Ram Gopal Varma and Sanjay Dutt had a major spat, and when Department failed in Box Office, the director openly accused Dutt and Oberoi of being highly unprofessional. When Sanjay realised how influential Dharam has become in his life, he decided to part his ways. Dharam Oberoi was entirely ousted from Dutt’s business and life. However, Dharam Oberoi has an entirely different take on the whole controversy. Supposedly, as Oberoi claims, he was directed by Sanjay’s wife, Maanyata Dutt to keep an eye on Sanjay’s philandering nature. The watch irked the actor. When Maanyata came to know about Oberoi arranging for a foreigner for the purpose of the actor’s pleasure, she became enraged. She thought that along with her husband, her ally also cheated on her. But Oberoi admits that he was only obeying his master’s orders. Unfortunately for him, to cover up the whole controversy, the Dutts sacked him accusing him of involving in shady deals under the actor’s name. Dharam was replaced by Maanyata Dutt as the CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions. Recently, reports came that Sanjay Dutt and Dharam Oberoi have mended their friendship, but later Sanjay Dutt cleared off such rumours. Such allegations and controversies have deeply affected Dharam Oberoi’s career in Bollywood.
