Dinaz Stafford was born and brought up in India. She got her Higher Secondary School certificate in the year 1979. She completed her B.A in Psychology from the University of Bombay in the year 1982. She did her M.A in Psychology from the University of Richmond, the USA in 1983. She also won the award of Best Graduate Research/Best Graduate Student there. She also did a course in Child Psychology in the US. She predominantly worked in the film industry and also worked for community development around the world. Dinaz Stafford is popular for Kisses on a Train(1994), Little Zizou(2008), Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love(1996). She began casting with Mississippi Masala(1991). She is a multi-talented woman and has a successful career in the film industry as a casting director, Line Producer, Associate Producer, Producer, Director, Writer, etc. Dinaz Stafford produced and directed her first short film Kisses On A Train in 1993.
She played a key role in the success of Mira Nair's film Salaam Bombay!. The success of Salaam Bombay! inspired Dinaz Stafford to start the Salaam Baalak Trust to provide development assistance to the street children in Mumbai. Since 1989, the trust has provided and guided the children in terms of education, creative activities, sports, and career. The trust has also worked for providing shelters to street children. Other than that, Dinaz Stafford and her husband, Matt Black, who is a DJ and a music producer have been performing at Audio Visual Shows in different countries around the world.
