Chand Parwes Servia is an Indian-origin producer and entrepreneur residing in Indonesia. He was born in Tasikmalaya, West Java, on February 18, 1959. He is 57 years old. He was born in a wealthy family. His childhood was simple, yet beautiful. He spent his early years flying kites, playing ball and with marbles, catching eels, attending the village mosque or just plain running around the fields with other village children. Even though he was a naughty kid, he helped to grow his family business. He claims that it is his down-to-earth background that has made him realize the value of wisdom. As a devout Muslim, who believes firmly in the Koran, he describes his life and its experiences as a gift from the mighty Allah. From his childhood itself, he was very fascinated by movies and loved to watch movies at the local cinema theater that was owned by his brother.
Being a sharp kid, he not only memorized the dialogues but also began to learn Hindi from them. As he moved into High school, his affection for movies grew, and got to own five movie theaters! Despite being busy managing the theaters, he went on to complete college at Bogor Agricultural University and earned a degree in Engineering. By 1981, he was holding the position of an assistant lecturer and played a vital role in laying the foundation of Faculty of Agriculture in Governmental University of Gunung Jati, Cirebon, in 1983. Even after all this, he felt that he belonged in the film industry. In 1980 he attempted to establish the Bandung Theaters that the Government completely forbade. The Government only accepted the recognition only of Festival Film Indonesia (FFI). He renamed it as Forum Film Bandung (FFB) to appease them.
It was in 1985 that he founded his venture Kharsima film in the Bandung province of West Java. His movie “Si Kabayan Saba Kota” won the title of the Best Comedy Film in the year 1989. The success of the film fortified his belief of getting into the film industry, but due to the constant and rapid change in the entertainment sector, where daily soaps took over television, he encountered an obstacle. This incident made him start Kharisma Starvision Plus, in the capital city of Jakarta in 1995. Starvision Plus went ahead to release a large number of daily soaps and even featured reality shows like “Spontaneous” which was an instant hit with the audience, which sky-rocketed the fame of Starvision Plus.
Chand is perceived to be a very liberal man who does not interfere with the creativity of the production and maintains warm and cordial relations with everyone associated with him. In the 2000s he once again felt a pull towards movies and released movies like “Reincarnation” followed by “Kafir” and they received a lot of praise from the audience at large. His next movies were “Soul” and his ultimate famous “Virgin” that even screened in Indian theaters in 2006. His other movie “Get Married” managed to clinch two awards at the FFI in 2007. He also produced many other films like “Empty Beach,” “Love is Love,” “ Missing Missing is a mystery serial that aired on Sony TV >> Read More... ,” and “Floor 13.” He broke all his previous records in 2008 when he released seven movies. Parwez has managed to make a massive contribution to the Indonesian film industry with all his tireless work.
